Copyright complaints and content removal
Last updated
FreeSoft Hub publishes descriptions of third-party software and links to the publishers’ own distribution channels. If something we publish infringes your rights, this page explains exactly how to tell us and what happens next.
1. What we can and cannot remove
We host no software. What lives on our servers is the catalogue itself: names, descriptions, screenshots, icons, licence identifiers and hyperlinks. Those are the things we can edit, hide or delete.
A file you object to is served by whoever operates the linked address, not by us. We can remove our link to it, and we will do so where the complaint is well founded, but only that operator can take the file down.
2. Where to send a notice
Copyright and other rights complaints: [CẦN ĐIỀN: địa chỉ email nhận thông báo vi phạm bản quyền].
Postal address of the operator: [CẦN ĐIỀN: tên pháp nhân vận hành site], [CẦN ĐIỀN: địa chỉ trụ sở đăng ký].
3. What a notice must contain
So that we can act rather than write back asking for more, please include all of the following. A notice missing any of it is incomplete and the deadline does not start until the gap is filled.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address, and — if you are acting for someone else — the name of the rights holder you represent and the basis of your authority.
- Identification of the protected work or right you rely on: the title, a registration number if there is one, and a URL where the original can be seen.
- The exact address of every page on this site you are complaining about. A full URL for each item; a complaint that names only our domain cannot be acted on.
- A description of what is wrong: which sentence, which image, which link, and why it infringes.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use complained of is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on that holder’s behalf. Making this statement falsely may expose you to liability.
- Your signature — a typed name in an email sent from your own address is sufficient.
4. What we do, and how fast
- We acknowledge receipt within two working days and give your notice a reference number.
- Where a copyright complaint is clear on its face, we hide the affected content immediately, before completing our review. Restoring content is cheap; leaving an infringement up while we deliberate is not.
- We reach a decision within five working days of receiving a complete notice, and we tell you what we decided and why.
- Content we delete returns HTTP 410 Gone rather than 404, and is dropped from our sitemap in the same change, so search engines stop offering it quickly.
- Every notice is recorded: the URLs complained of, who complained, the type of claim, when it arrived, what we did and when. This record is what lets us show that a complaint was handled properly.
5. If you think we removed something wrongly
If your content was hidden or deleted and you believe that was a mistake, send us a counter-notice at the same address. Please include:
- your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
- identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the material was removed as a result of a mistake or a misidentification;
- a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of the place given in our terms of use;
- your signature.
We forward the counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within ten working days that they have started legal proceedings, we restore the content.
6. Other kinds of complaint
- Trademark. Tell us the mark, the registration number and the jurisdiction, and point to the page where you say it is misused.
- Factual error about your software. The fastest route is the publisher channel on our contact page; you do not need a legal complaint to get a wrong version number, licence or link fixed.
- Personal data. If a page contains personal data about you, write to our privacy address and we will treat it as an erasure request.
- Malicious or misleading distribution. If a link on this site leads somewhere it should not, tell us and we will remove the link while we look into it.
All of these routes, with their email addresses, are listed on the contact page.
7. Repeat infringers and abuse of this procedure
Where a publisher’s entries are repeatedly and rightly the subject of complaints, we remove that publisher from the catalogue entirely.
This procedure also gets abused — most often by people trying to remove accurate but unwelcome information. We read every notice on its merits, we do not act on notices that are plainly unfounded, and we keep a record of who sent them.
