About this application

Shotcut is a video editor for the ordinary jobs: cutting footage down, adding titles and transitions, correcting colour and levels, and exporting to a preset for the target platform. Like Kdenlive it sits on the MLT framework and uses FFmpeg, so it opens most formats directly and does not insist on importing or converting first.

The interface is panel based and can be rearranged, with the timeline, filter list and player each free to move. Filters are stacked per clip or per track and animated with keyframes. Editing supports resolutions up to 4K, network streams as a source, and audio work with waveform display, peak meters and volume control.

The project publishes builds for Windows, macOS and Linux, including a portable Windows archive that runs from a folder without installing, which is useful on machines where installation is not permitted.
