About this application
Blender is a 3D creation suite that carries a whole production pipeline in one application: modelling and sculpting, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging and animation, particle and physics simulation, and rendering through either the Cycles path tracer or the real-time Eevee engine.
The scope goes past 3D. Blender includes a node based compositor, a video sequence editor with basic colour work, and 2D animation through Grease Pencil, which draws strokes that still live inside a 3D scene. Python scripting reaches most of the application, so studios build their own tools and importers on top of it rather than around it.
The Blender Foundation coordinates development and funds it largely through the Blender Development Fund, which keeps releases free of charge for everyone including commercial studios. Builds are published for Windows, macOS and Linux.
