Go2TV, by Alexandros Ballas, casts media files to Smart TVs and Chromecast devices. The user picks a file held on the computer and selects a receiver reachable on the same network; the television or dongle carries out playback while the computer acts as the source of the stream.
The build catalogued here runs on Linux only, which places it in the hands of desktop Linux users who want to watch files they already have on a larger screen. The two receiver families named in this record are Smart TVs and Chromecast hardware; support for other kinds of playback endpoint is not something these facts establish, and neither is the range of container or codec formats the tool will accept.
Go2TV is published under the MIT license. That is a permissive arrangement: redistribution and modification are allowed, including within closed-source products, as long as the copyright notice and license text travel with the code.
