Highlights
- Models electrical distribution networks and their connected components.
- Supports analysis of a designed network rather than drawing alone.

About this application
GElectrical is a program for the design and analysis of electrical distribution networks, published by Manu Varkey under the GPL-3.0 licence. It addresses the engineering side of distribution work: representing a network of supply points, conductors and connected equipment, and then examining how that arrangement behaves, rather than serving as a general-purpose drawing package.
The audience is narrow by nature. An electrical designer or consultant preparing distribution layouts and the calculations that accompany them is the likely user; the program is not a substitute for a broad CAD tool or for office software. It is published by an individual developer rather than a company, which is worth knowing when judging release cadence and support expectations.
Only Linux is recorded as a supported platform, so this is not an option for a Windows or macOS workstation without some other arrangement. The GPL-3.0 licence makes the source available and requires derivative works to carry the same terms. Which specific analysis methods, component libraries and report or export formats are included is not covered by the data here, and should be checked against the project's own documentation before relying on it for professional work.
