About this application

Aalener Optik-Formelrechner is an Android calculator for formulas used in optics. Instead of a general-purpose arithmetic interface, it presents a collection of optical functions that the user selects, fills in with known quantities, and evaluates to obtain the remaining value.

The application is aimed at people who work through optical calculations repeatedly — students, opticians, and technicians — and who would otherwise re-enter the same expressions by hand. The name refers to Aalen, and parts of the interface or terminology may be in German; readers who need an English-only interface should verify this before relying on the app.

Distribution is under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later, so the source may be examined, modified, and redistributed under the same terms. Builds are provided for Android only.
