Automation is an Android application built around user-defined rules that make the device react to its own state. Each rule pairs conditions with actions, so a change of circumstance on the phone can lead to settings being altered or tasks being carried out without manual intervention. Rules are assembled in the app itself, which makes it a general-purpose tool rather than one tied to a single setting or scenario.
This rule-based approach means the usefulness of the app depends largely on how it is configured: an empty install does nothing until rules are written, and the range of what can be triggered or changed follows what Android permits an app to observe and control.
