High Tide is a client for TIDAL, a commercial music streaming service. It is a third-party front end rather than an official application: the catalogue, accounts, and playback rights remain with the service, and the program supplies an interface to them. Use therefore presumes an existing TIDAL account.

Development is credited collectively to The High Tide Contributors, and the licence is GPL-3.0-or-later, which allows study, modification, and redistribution of the source on the condition that derived work carries the same terms.
