JASP is a statistics program aimed at people who run analyses rather than write code. Data is loaded as a spreadsheet, an analysis is chosen from a menu, and the results appear in a panel beside the data. Changing an option updates the output straight away instead of requiring the analysis to be run again.
It covers the common tests — t-tests, ANOVA, regression, correlation, contingency tables — and offers a Bayesian counterpart for many of them, which is the reason it is often used for teaching: the same dataset can be examined both ways side by side.
Output tables and figures follow APA formatting and can be copied into a document as they appear. An analysis file keeps the data, the options chosen and the results together, so a colleague opening it sees how a number was produced.
