Franz

Franz is a desktop messaging client that gathers several chat and messaging services into one application window. It does not implement the protocols itself; each service is loaded in its own container and appears as an entry in a list you switch between, so accounts from different platforms stay in separate contexts inside one program.

The intended use is consolidation. Someone who otherwise keeps a browser tab open for each messaging platform can move those into a single window with one set of desktop notifications. Several accounts on the same service are handled as distinct entries rather than being merged into a unified inbox, which suits people separating work and personal identities on the same platform.

Because each service is a wrapped web interface, the features available inside a given entry follow what that provider's web client offers; anything missing there is missing in Franz as well. The listing covers Linux, and the software is published by Stefan Maizner under the Apache-2.0 licence.
