Evolution is the personal information manager of the GNOME desktop. One window holds mail, calendar, contacts, tasks and memos, switched by buttons at the bottom of the side pane, and the parts refer to each other: an address in a message becomes a contact, a date becomes an appointment.
The mail side speaks IMAP, POP and SMTP, and reads local mbox and Maildir stores as well. Messages can be signed and encrypted with GnuPG or S/MIME. Filters sort incoming mail into folders, search folders present a saved query as though it were a folder, and junk filtering can be handed to Bogofilter or SpamAssassin. Calendars and address books are read over CalDAV and CardDAV, from Google accounts, or from a local store, and accounts configured in GNOME Online Accounts appear without being set up twice.
Connectivity to Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 comes from the separate evolution-ews module, which speaks Exchange Web Services and is packaged alongside Evolution rather than inside it.
