Drawing is a small raster image editor built for the GNOME desktop. It is aimed at quick jobs rather than long sessions — cropping a screenshot, drawing an arrow to point at something, blurring out a name before sharing a picture, or adding a line of text to an image.
The tools cover freehand pencil and brush strokes, a highlighter, an eraser, straight lines and arrows, rectangles, ellipses and polygons, text with an outline option, a colour picker and a paint bucket. Selections can be rectangular or freehand, and the selected part can be moved, cropped, scaled, rotated or filtered on its own. Canvas operations handle cropping, scaling, rotating and adding a border to the whole image. Files open and save in common raster formats.
The window adapts to narrow screens, which makes it usable on Linux phones and small tablets as well as on a desktop. It works on flat pixels only: there is no layer stack, so anything drawn is merged straight into the image.
