AndroidMic turns an Android device into a wireless microphone input for a Windows or Linux PC. The Android app captures audio from the phone's built-in microphone and streams it over a local network — either via Wi-Fi or a USB connection — to a companion desktop application, which registers the incoming audio as a virtual sound device that the operating system can route to any program expecting microphone input.
Setup involves installing both the phone app and the desktop client, then pairing them on the same network or over USB. Once connected, the audio stream appears as a standard input source in system sound settings, so video-conferencing tools, recording software, or voice-recognition programs pick it up without additional configuration. The connection relies on a local link rather than any cloud relay, meaning audio does not leave the local environment.
The project targets Android as the capture side only; the desktop receiver runs on Windows and Linux. Audio quality depends on the phone's hardware and network conditions, and there is some latency inherent in any streaming setup, which may be noticeable in real-time applications sensitive to delay.
