Gyre

Gyre fetches video content from Coub, the hosting service built around short looping clips, and writes it to local storage. It is a purpose-built tool rather than a general media grabber: it is organised around Coub's own addresses and the way that service presents its material, so its usefulness is tied to that one site.

The project comes from HelpSeeker and is distributed under the GPL-3.0-or-later licence, which permits study, modification and redistribution of the source under the same terms. Packaging is listed for Linux only; users of other operating systems would have to work from source or look elsewhere.

Downloaders of this kind track a moving target, since the site they read from can change its public interface without notice. Consult the project's own release notes and issue tracker before depending on it for a large or long-running job.
