BOINC

BOINC is an Android application for contributing a device’s unused computing capacity to scientific research projects. Published by the University of California, Berkeley, it acts as a client for distributed computing: the app connects to selected projects, receives small units of computational work, processes them on the device, and returns the results.

The program is intended for users who want a phone or tablet to participate in research tasks rather than remain idle. Its use is limited here to Android, and it depends on projects compatible with the BOINC system. The application is distributed under the LGPL-3.0-or-later license.
