About this application

Remmina is a remote desktop client for the GTK desktops. Saved connections are listed in the main window and open into tabs, so several machines can be worked on inside one window. Each profile records the host, protocol, resolution and colour depth, and passwords can go to the system keyring rather than the profile file.

Protocol support comes from plugins, and which ones are present depends on how the package was built. The usual set is RDP through FreeRDP, VNC, SPICE, SSH terminal sessions and X2Go. A protocol that appears to be missing is therefore usually a plugin that has not been installed rather than a limit of the program.

RDP sessions can redirect local folders and drives to the remote machine, share the clipboard, forward printers and smart cards, and lower quality settings for slow links. Any connection can be routed through an SSH tunnel configured in the same profile, which is how machines behind a jump host are usually reached. Display options cover scaled, full-screen and multi-monitor layouts, with a floating toolbar holding the session controls in full screen.
