About this application
PeaZip is a graphical archive manager. It opens and extracts a wide range of archive formats, and creates archives in 7z, ZIP, TAR and its own PEA format among others. The file browser inside it lets you step into an archive, pull out one entry, or add files without unpacking everything first.
Beyond packing and unpacking it carries a few tools that sit close to that work: splitting a large archive into volumes of a chosen size, computing checksums and hashes for files, and comparing two files byte by byte. Archives can be protected with a password, and 7z and ZIP support encrypting the file names as well as the contents.
PeaZip is built on well-known back ends rather than its own compression code, and runs on Windows and Linux.
