About this application

Parlatype is an audio media player built for Linux desktops, tailored specifically for the task of manual audio transcription. It provides playback controls designed to help transcribers move through audio files efficiently without constantly switching focus between the player and the text editor. The application displays an interactive sound wave representation of the loaded audio file to help users navigate timestamps.

The software includes adjustable playback speeds, pitch correction, and configurable backward jumping when playback is paused and resumed. Parlatype supports various audio formats accessible through GStreamer and integrates with LibreOffice Writer or other text entry applications through a minimalist control window. It runs exclusively on Linux platforms and depends on GNOME libraries for its interface components.
