MarkText

MarkText is a Markdown editor built on Electron. Formatting is rendered directly in the editing area rather than in a separate pane, so headings, lists, tables and emphasis appear as you type instead of showing raw syntax on one side and a rendered copy on the other.

The editor follows CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown, and handles tables, footnotes, task lists and fenced code blocks. Mathematical expressions are typeset with KaTeX, and fenced blocks can be rendered as diagrams. Writing modes include a typewriter mode that keeps the current line centred, a focus mode that dims everything except the active paragraph, and a source-code mode that turns the whole document back into plain Markdown text.

Documents export to HTML and PDF, and the interface ships with several light and dark themes. MarkText works on local files only. There is no note database and no synchronisation layer, so organising and backing up documents is left to the file system and whatever tools you already use.
