About this application

Kompare is a graphical front-end application developed by KDE for examining the differences between text files and source code. Running primarily on Linux systems, the program compares two distinct versions of a document or directory and highlights the exact modifications made between them. Developers and system administrators use it to review source code changes, merge conflicting text blocks, and inspect patch files generated by standard utility commands.

The user interface presents a side-by-side or unified view of the compared data, color-coding additions, deletions, and modifications to distinguish alterations at a glance. Users can navigate through individual changes sequentially and apply or reject specific edits before saving the final output. The program functions as a visual wrapper around standard diff and patch utilities, providing an interactive workspace for textual comparison tasks.
