About this application
Gromit-MPX draws annotations over the contents of the screen. It puts a drawing layer above the running desktop, so marks made with the pointer appear on top of application windows, slide decks, documents or video without modifying any of them. The layer can be switched on when marks are wanted and switched off again so that clicks reach the windows underneath, and existing marks can be cleared away when they are no longer relevant.
The usual setting is a talk, a lesson or a screen recording, where the person speaking needs to circle a value in a table or trace a path through a diagram while the underlying application keeps running. Because it works as an overlay on an existing desktop session rather than as a standalone drawing program, it is not a substitute for an image editor or a whiteboard application; it has no canvas of its own.
The program is written by Christian Beier and distributed under GPL-2.0-only. This packaging is for Linux only.
