About this application

e-Passport Reader is an Android application for communicating with an electronic passport through the phone’s NFC hardware. It is meant for passports that contain a contactless chip and for Android devices equipped with NFC support. The app provides a way to read data via the same near-field communication interface used by the passport chip.

The software is published by Anton Tananaev and released under the Apache-2.0 license. Its use depends on both device capability and the presence of a compatible electronic passport; it is not a general document scanner and does not apply to passports without an NFC chip.
