About this application
AVIF Viewer is an Android application for opening and displaying images in the AVIF format. It exists because AVIF support is uneven across devices and gallery apps: where the system image viewer cannot decode a file, this application handles the decoding itself and renders the picture on screen. Files can be opened from the file manager or from another app that hands off an image, and the usual viewing gestures apply for panning and zooming.
The scope is deliberately narrow. This is a viewer, not an editor or a converter, so there are no adjustment tools, no format conversion and no library management. It is useful as a companion to whatever gallery application is already installed, filling in the specific gap of AVIF playback rather than replacing the existing photo workflow.
The application is published by Zoff under the Apache-2.0 licence and targets Android only; there is no desktop counterpart in this listing.
