About this application
AutoNotify takes notifications posted by apps on an Android phone and passes them on to Android Auto, so alerts that would otherwise stay on the handset screen show up in the car interface. Android Auto normally displays notifications only from apps it recognises as messaging or navigation clients; AutoNotify sits between the phone's notification stream and Android Auto to widen the set of apps whose alerts get through.
Because it works from notifications the system has already received, it does not need a separate integration for each app: in principle anything that posts a notification can be relayed. In exchange, the app has to be granted notification access before it can do anything.
This is an Android-only project, and it is useful only where Android Auto is already in use, whether through a head unit or the phone-based display. It is published by Zehuan Li under the MIT license.
