About this application

AppVerifier BG reads the signing certificate of an installed Android application and compares its hash against reference values, either ones shared directly by another party or entries held in a signature database. The result is a match or a mismatch between the hash on the device and the hash in the reference, which tells the reader whether the installed copy was signed with the same key as the reference describes. Interpreting what that means is left to the person doing the check.

The comparison covers signatures only. The app does not inspect file contents, evaluate behaviour, or make judgements about the applications it reports on, and its output depends entirely on the reference hashes supplied to it. A missing or incorrect reference produces a correspondingly limited result.

It is published by RoundSalmon4 for Android under the ISC licence.
