About this application

Anywherelan builds a private network between your own devices using peer-to-peer connections. Instead of routing traffic through a provider's gateway, each participating device joins a mesh in which peers address each other directly, so a phone, laptop, or home machine can reach the others as if they shared a local network segment. There is no central server holding the network together, which means the set of peers you add defines the whole topology.

The typical use is reaching services that are not published to the public internet: a file share on a home computer, a self-hosted web interface, a media server, or a remote shell. Because the mesh is made of your devices only, connectivity depends on those devices being online rather than on a subscription endpoint staying up.

This entry covers the Android build, published by Anywherelan under the MPL-2.0 license. Devices on other operating systems need their own client to take part in the same mesh.
