About this application

AmbitSync is an Android application that reads recorded activity logs from Suunto Ambit series watches and converts them into GPX files. It occupies the step between the watch and whatever software the user prefers for looking at tracks: the recorded entries are transferred to the phone and written out in a widely readable exchange format, rather than staying inside a vendor-specific tool.

The scope is deliberately narrow. The program handles Ambit hardware and GPX output; it is not a training diary, and it does not chart, analyse or annotate the data it extracts. Once a file exists on the phone, further work is left to mapping applications, route editors or desktop programs of the user's choosing.

AmbitSync is published by Mark Kuo under the GPL-3.0-only licence. It is built for Android only, so a phone or tablet is required and there is no companion desktop version; owners of other Suunto lines or other brands will not find support for their devices here.
