AirGuard - AirTag protection

AirGuard is an Android application that looks for item trackers moving along with the person carrying the phone. The category it addresses is small commercial locator tags, Apple's AirTag among them, which are made to report their whereabouts to an owner and can therefore be slipped into a bag, a coat, or a car to follow someone who never agreed to be followed.

The app works from the handset itself rather than from added equipment. When it concludes that a tracker is accompanying you instead of merely being nearby once, it raises a warning, leaving the decision about what to do next to you. Dennis Arndt publishes it under the Apache-2.0 licence, so the source can be read, modified, and redistributed under those terms.

Coverage is limited to Android, with no iOS or desktop build recorded here. What the app can notice is bounded by what the phone's own radios pick up in the surrounding area, which makes it a warning aid rather than an exhaustive sweep of every device in a room.
