Points clés
- Reads GStreamer debug log output and displays it in a structured form.
- Separates each log entry into its recorded fields instead of showing raw text.
- Used for tracing element behaviour after a pipeline run.
- Requires a log produced with GStreamer debug output enabled.
- Available for Linux under GPL-3.0-or-later.
À propos de cette application
GStreamer Debug Viewer is a desktop tool for reading the debug output that GStreamer produces. When debug logging is enabled, a running pipeline writes one line per event, each carrying fields such as a timestamp, a log level, a category and the object the message came from. The viewer loads such a log and presents those fields as a structured view instead of leaving them as an undifferentiated wall of text.
The purpose is diagnostic. When a pipeline stalls, negotiates the wrong format or drops data, the debug log is frequently the only record of what each element did, and a short run can already produce more lines than are practical to read by hand. Working through the log in a viewer that understands its field layout is the alternative to paging through it in a text editor.
A log has to be produced first, by running the GStreamer application with debug output turned on; the viewer reads that material rather than generating it. It comes from The GStreamer Team, is packaged for Linux, and is licensed GPL-3.0-or-later.
