Points clés

  • Plays audiobooks directly from a NextCloud or WebDAV share.
  • Authenticates with the user's existing server account.
  • Keeps the audiobook collection on the server instead of requiring a local library.
  • Requires a reachable server with WebDAV access to function.
  • Distributed under the GPL-3.0-only; this entry lists the Android build.

À propos de cette application

audav is an audiobook player that reads its library from a remote share rather than from device storage. It connects to a NextCloud instance or a plain WebDAV endpoint using the listener's own credentials and plays the files it finds there, so the collection stays on the server that already holds it.

This arrangement fits people who keep audiobooks alongside the rest of their files on a self-hosted or rented NextCloud, and who would rather not maintain a second copy on the phone. It also means a reachable server and working WebDAV access are prerequisites; without them there is nothing for the app to open.

The project describes itself as cross-platform, but the build covered by this entry is the Android one. It is published by mm-dev under the GPL-3.0-only, which permits use, modification and redistribution under that version of the license.
