Anki Image Occlusion is an Android application for building image occlusion flashcards, the study format in which parts of a picture are masked and the learner has to recall what is hidden underneath. The typical input is a diagram, map, anatomical illustration or annotated screenshot; the output is a set of cloze cards for Anki, each one hiding a different region of the same image.
Three masking modes are available. Normal produces one card per hidden region, so each label is tested on its own. Group treats several regions as a single unit, useful when a set of labels belongs together. Combine hides all marked regions at once and reveals them together, which suits overview questions about a whole figure.
The app is published by Mani under GPL-3.0-or-later, a copyleft licence. It is packaged for Android only, so card creation happens on a phone or tablet rather than at a desktop, and the resulting cards are intended for use with Anki rather than reviewed in a self-contained system.
