Modern REing Hex Editor

ImHex is a hex editor built for taking apart binary formats with no documentation. Next to the usual byte grid it shows a data inspector that reads the bytes under the cursor as integers, floating-point values, timestamps, GUIDs and strings at different widths and byte orders, so a header can be identified without arithmetic by hand.
Its distinguishing feature is a pattern language: a C-like description of a file format which, once written, colours and labels the matching regions of the file and presents the parsed values as a tree. A pattern can be reused on other files, turning a one-off investigation into a repeatable one. Other views include a disassembler, byte-level diffing between two files, entropy and byte-distribution graphs for spotting compressed or encrypted regions, bookmarks with notes, and a node-based data processor that chains transformations such as decompression over a selection.
The interface is drawn with Dear ImGui and is the same on Linux, Windows and macOS. Data is reached through providers, which read ordinary files, process memory and raw disk devices.
