Personal accounting for everyone

HomeBank is a GTK application for keeping track of household accounts. It aims at everyday budgeting rather than formal bookkeeping: transactions are recorded against an account and sorted into categories, payees and payment modes, without the double-entry discipline of a full accounting package.
Statements import from OFX/QFX, QIF and CSV files. An assignment system then applies categories, payees and payment modes automatically, based on rules you write against the transaction text, so recurring entries classify themselves. Imported transactions are checked against what is already in the file, which catches the same entry arriving twice from overlapping statements. Scheduled transactions handle standing orders and regular bills and can be posted automatically some days before they fall due.
The reporting side produces budget tracking against monthly limits, trend charts over time, breakdowns by category or payee, and a vehicle cost report that works out fuel consumption and running costs from refuelling entries. Several accounts and currencies can live in the same file.
