Aspectos destacados

  • Issues cscope symbol and reference queries from a GTK window rather than a terminal prompt.
  • Displays cross-reference matches in a graphical result list.
  • Works against cscope databases, so existing ones can be reused.
  • Requires a separate cscope installation to function.
  • Listed for Linux only, under GPL-3.0-or-later.

Acerca de esta aplicación

gScope provides a GTK front end for cscope, the cross-referencing tool used for browsing source trees. Queries that cscope normally exposes at a terminal prompt — finding where a symbol is defined, which functions call or are called by a given one, which files include a header, which lines contain a text pattern — are driven here from windows, entry fields and result lists.

The program does not analyse code on its own. It sits on top of cscope's database and query engine, so the languages covered and the exact meaning of each search come from cscope rather than from the interface. Existing cscope databases can be reused; conversely, cscope itself has to be present alongside gScope for the interface to have anything to query.

Carlo Caione publishes it under GPL-3.0-or-later. Linux is the only platform listed, so developers on other operating systems would need a Linux environment, cscope's own interfaces, or a different front end.
