Educational game for children

GCompris gathers a large set of small educational activities for children of preschool and primary school age under a single launcher. Each activity is a self-contained exercise with its own difficulty levels, and the launcher sorts them into areas: early reading and letter recognition, arithmetic and number sense, mouse and keyboard practice, geography through map puzzles, science topics such as the water cycle and simple electrical circuits, memory and logic puzzles, music, and board games including chess.
Interaction is direct — dragging, dropping, clicking a target — so the same activities work with a mouse on a desktop and with a finger on a touchscreen. Interface text and spoken instructions are translated into many languages. Voice files for a given language are downloaded separately, so a fresh installation may stay silent until they arrive.
A configuration screen chooses which activities are shown, restricts the difficulty levels on offer, and sets the language and display mode. Once the extra assets are present everything runs locally, with no account and no network.
