Celluloid

Celluloid is a graphical front-end to mpv for the GNOME desktop. It embeds mpv through the libmpv library, so decoding, filtering and rendering are done by mpv itself while Celluloid supplies a window that follows GNOME conventions: a header bar, a playlist that slides in from the side, drag-and-drop of files and URLs, and desktop integration such as media key handling and MPRIS.

Because the playback engine is mpv, existing configuration carries over. Options from mpv.conf and key bindings from input.conf are read when enabled, mpv scripts placed in the configuration directory load as usual, and any mpv option can be passed from the preferences window. That makes it a way to use mpv's renderer and format support without working entirely from the keyboard and config files.

The application was previously named GNOME MPV. It concentrates on playback: there is no transcoding, no editing and no media library, only files, playlists and streams handed to mpv.
