Fast and friendly network scanner

Angry IP Scanner sweeps a range of addresses and reports which hosts respond. The range is given as a start and end address, as a CIDR block, or derived from the interface the machine is already on. Addresses are probed in parallel across many threads, which is what keeps a whole subnet from taking an afternoon.
What gets collected per host is chosen from a list of fetchers: hostname from reverse DNS, response time, MAC address and its vendor, NetBIOS details, web server banner, and open ports from a port list the user supplies. Results fill a table that can be sorted and filtered, and exported to CSV, plain text or XML for use elsewhere. Further fetchers can be added as plugins.
The program is written in Java and needs a Java runtime available to it. It reports only what hosts choose to answer, so a device configured not to reply to pings can be missed entirely unless port scanning is enabled for the sweep. Scanning networks that are not yours is a matter for the network's owner rather than for the tool.
