Digital photo organizer

Shotwell is the photo organizer that ships with several GNOME-based desktops. It imports pictures from a camera, a phone or a folder and arranges them by the date they were taken, grouping shots from the same session into events. Tags, ratings, titles and flags provide the rest of the organisation, and the sidebar filters the library by any of them.
Editing is deliberately limited to the corrections most pictures need: crop, straighten, rotate, red-eye removal, and sliders for exposure, saturation, temperature and shadows, plus a one-click enhance. Every change is non-destructive and can be reverted to the original at any time. Raw files are supported, with a choice between working from the embedded JPEG or from the developed raw data.
Shotwell aims to stay out of the way rather than cover every case. There is no layer editing, no compositing and no face recognition; anything past basic correction is expected to happen in another application, which Shotwell can launch directly from the library.
