Foliate

Foliate is an e-book reader for the GNOME desktop. It opens a book into a reading area with the rest of the interface out of the way, and the controls appear when you go looking for them.

Reading options cover paginated or scrolled layout, margins, line spacing, font and font size, and light, sepia or dark themes. Position is remembered per book, and a table of contents, bookmarks and annotations are reachable from a side pane. Selecting a passage offers a dictionary lookup, a Wikipedia lookup, a translation, or a note attached to the selection; annotations and bookmarks are stored beside the library entry rather than written into the book file. Text can be read aloud through a speech synthesis backend installed on the system.

Supported formats include EPUB, Mobipocket and Kindle files, FB2, comic book archives and plain text. Foliate reads books: it does not catalogue a library the way a dedicated manager does, and it does not convert between formats.
