DBeaver Community

DBeaver Community is a desktop SQL client. Connections are made over JDBC, with the driver for a given database downloaded on first use, which is why the list of reachable systems is long: PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Firebird and in principle anything with a JDBC driver. Some sources, including several NoSQL and cloud warehouse products, are supported only by the paid editions.

The navigator tree walks schemas, tables, views, indexes, procedures and users, and shows the DDL of each object. The SQL editor offers completion driven by the connected schema, syntax highlighting, execution plans and several result tabs at once. Result grids are editable: rows can be changed in place, filtered and sorted, and the generated statement inspected before it is sent.

Around that sit a data transfer wizard for import and export between files and databases, and entity-relationship diagrams derived from schema metadata. It is a Java application built on Eclipse, so it starts slowly and holds more memory than a small native client.
