Aucards

Aucards is an Android app for communicating without speech, built around cards that the user writes ahead of time. Each card carries a message that can be brought up and shown to another person, and the cards persist so the same message is reused instead of being retyped in the moment.

The emphasis is on reaching a card quickly. A set prepared in advance covers the situations that recur for a particular person, which means the wording is the user's own rather than a fixed phrasebook chosen by someone else. That suits people who are non-verbal, temporarily unable to speak, or in surroundings where speaking is impractical.

The app is available for Android only; no other platform is listed. Vadim Erenkov publishes it under the GPL-3.0-or-later, so the code may be studied, changed and passed on under those terms.
