このアプリケーションについて
GTK Meteo is a weather application for the Linux desktop whose distinguishing element is how a location is chosen. Instead of typing a place name into a search field, the user picks a point on a map, and the application then displays the forecast for that position. This fits cases where the area of interest has no settlement name, lies between towns, or is simply easier to identify visually than in text.
The interface is built with GTK, so its appearance and behaviour follow the conventions of GNOME and other GTK-based desktop environments. Linux is the only platform listed, which rules the application out for anyone working on Windows or macOS. It is published by bailuk under the MIT licence, a permissive licence permitting reuse, modification and redistribution with attribution.
As with any forecast client, the figures shown come from an external data source rather than from the program itself, so coverage, update frequency and accuracy are governed by that upstream provider.
