主な特徴
- Builds both 2D and 3D games from a scene-and-node project structure.
- Combines editor and runtime in one application, so projects can be run from within the editor.
- Includes importing, animation, physics, tilemaps, and interface layout in the same tool.
- Scripts are attached to nodes using the engine's own language or other supported bindings.
- Belongs to the 3.x line; projects are not directly interchangeable with Godot 4.
このアプリケーションについて
Godot 3 is the 3.x line of the Godot game engine, developed by the Godot Engine Community and released under the MIT license. Editor and runtime ship as a single program: a project is assembled as a tree of scenes and nodes, behaviour is attached to those nodes through scripts, and the result is exported as a build for a chosen target. Both 2D and 3D projects are covered, with the 2D side using its own renderer rather than a flattened view of a 3D scene.
The editor handles the ordinary parts of game construction — importing art and audio, laying out interfaces, animation tracks, physics bodies, tilemaps, particles — so most iteration takes place without leaving the application. Scripting uses the engine's own language, and the same API is reachable from the other language bindings the engine supports.
This is the older release line, kept in circulation for projects written against it. Project files are not directly interchangeable with the Godot 4 series, and moving between the two lines involves migration work. The entry here is for Linux.
