Edit Markdown in style

Apostrophe is a Markdown editor for the GNOME desktop, built with GTK. The writing area shows plain Markdown with syntax highlighting rather than a rendered document, so what you type and what the file contains stay identical. A preview can be opened beside it when you want to check the formatted result.
The interface is deliberately sparse. A focus mode dims every paragraph except the one under the cursor, a full-screen mode hides the window chrome, and a statistics view reports word and character counts along with an estimated reading time. Search and replace works over the open document.
Export is handled by Pandoc, so the output formats on offer — HTML, PDF, ODT and others — follow what Pandoc supports rather than anything the editor implements itself. Apostrophe edits one local file at a time and has no notebook, tagging or synchronisation layer, which makes it suited to drafting prose and documentation rather than managing a collection of notes.
