AndrOBD is an Android application that communicates with a vehicle's on-board diagnostics system via an OBD-II adapter — typically a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi dongle plugged into the car's OBD-II port. It reads real-time sensor data broadcast by the vehicle's ECU, including engine RPM, coolant temperature, vehicle speed, fuel system status, and other parameters exposed through standard OBD-II PIDs.
Beyond live data, the app can retrieve and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), which are the fault codes stored when the ECU detects an anomaly. Users can view a scrolling dashboard of gauges or log data to a file for later review. The range of available sensors depends on what the vehicle's ECU chooses to expose; not all parameters are present on all cars or all adapter models. AndrOBD is released under GPL-3.0-or-later and runs exclusively on Android.
